DBasia.news – Liverpool made a dramatic comeback when getting rid of Barcelona in the Champions League semifinals. Ernesto Valverde, Barcelona coach, did not reason much and admitted that Liverpool deserved to win.
Barcelona visited Liverpool’s Anfield headquarters with confidence on Tuesday (7/5) local time. That was after they won 3-0 in the first leg.
These conditions have made Barcelona superior in the game. Moreover, Liverpool could not play Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino due to injuries.
However, the reality is that Barcelona were eliminated. Each of the two goals from Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum made Liverpool qualify for the 2018-2019 Champions League final.
After the match, Ernesto Valverde acknowledged Liverpool’s superiority. According to him, the Reds’ second goal made Barcelona quite beaten so that their concentration dispersed.
“Liverpool are better than Barcelona, we have to accept that. The final score is 4-0, with results like that, we have no reason whatsoever,” said Ernesto Valverde.
“Liverpool’s second goal was very hard on us. The third goal came shortly after that. Liverpool played very well, Barcelona congratulated them on the final.”
“I was devastated as this had happened before (against AS Roma last season). This defeat was painful, especially for Barcelona fans. We will try not to repeat it,” added Ernesto Valverde.
The defeat closes the opportunity for Barcelona to win the treble winners this season. Now, the maximum achievement of Lionel Messi and his mates is to secure the Copa del Rey after winning LaLiga.
