Ernesto Valverde’s Position Threatened to be Fired

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Barcelona lost 0-2 to Granada in the continuing LaLiga match at Los Carmenes, Sunday (9/22) AM. As a result of the defeat, Ernesto Valverde’s position has been threatened with dismissal.

Granada won 2-0 through Ramon Azeez’s goal (2 ‘) and Alvaro Vadillo’s penalty (66’). Thanks to that result, Granada still remain at the top of the LaLiga standings with 10 points and three points adrift of Barcelona at seventh place.

The defeat in the away game added to the Blaugrana’s minor record which so far has not won at the opponent’s headquarters in all competitions. The match was against Athletic Bilbao (0-1), Osasuna (2-2), Borussia Dortmund (0-0) in the Champions League, and now against Granada.

Coupled with a record of away games last season and one againsr Dortmund this season, in total, Barca has failed to win eight times at the opponent’s headquarters. Valverde expressed his concern.

“I am worried because our away games didn’t receive good results. When four away games have passed, this is a symptom that something is not going well,” Valverde said, as reported by Football-Espana.

“It is clear that this is not a good statistic for us and it is not in line with what we have done in the last few years. This relates to what I have said, we are not good in away games, “he added.

Not only is Barcelona’s performance worrying, but also Valverde’s fate is threatened. The former Athletic Bilbao coach has received a great deal of attention after failing to win the Copa del Rey title and last season’s Champions League.

Adding to the fact that club management has spoiled him with expensive players: Philippe Coutinho (now on loan at Bayern Munchen), Ousmane Dembele, Antoine Griezmann and Frenkie de Jong, there is no reason for Valverde not to achieve positive results.

Coming from Bilbao in 2017, Valverde has presented two LaLiga titles, one Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. Under his care, Barca’s play is inconsistent and tends to depend on Lionel Messi.

If this situation continues, it is possible that Valverde may suffer the same fate as Julen Lopetegui at Real Madrid last season: fired in the middle of the season.

“Recruiting Frenkie de Jong and Antoine Griezmann while keeping Ernesto Valverde as a coach is like giving lipstick to pigs,” said Squawka’s Editor, Muhammad Butt @muhammadbutt.
