Even Though Getting Worse, Marco Bielsa Reluctant to Change Leeds United’s Style of Play

DBasia.news – Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa will not change his style of play even though their position in the standings begins to fall free. He made sure The Whites would still appear to attack in every match.
Leeds is considered the most promising dark horse after making it difficult for Liverpool in the opening match of the 2020-2021 Premier League. Two wins and a draw against Manchester City afterwards also support this argument.
Unfortunately Patrick Bamford’s performance decreased drastically slowly. Three defeats from the last four games made Leeds plummet to 15th place.
Many people think that Leeds is running out of retirement. This could not be separated from the effects of the aggressive game Bielsa applied.
But the Argentinian manager seems very stubborn to accept that view. Bielsa is known as a tactician with a clear philosophy.
“We have to keep attacking well and reduce the mistakes we have caused ourselves. We don’t need to lose the ball in our own area, to finish the attack in the opponent’s area so there is no counter-attack,” Bielsa said on the club’s official website.
“What would I do if our style didn’t work out? Should we play the long ball all the time and only attack if the opponent makes a mistake?”
“Trying to attack is what the fans want and you have to try and be efficient with the style you choose. Anything that allows you to win is good and any situation when it doesn’t go well is considered bad,” he added.
As a manager, Bielsa doesn’t want to just bring his team to win. He wants the victory to be won with a game that is easy to watch.
He did not close his eyes with criticism related to this philosophy. But he had made a choice and could not turn away.
“Taking any other option means I don’t care and that I will just go any way possible to win. Building a style of play takes a long time and to destroy it only takes one time,” he said.
Leeds will host Arsenal in the Premier League continued on Sunday (22/11). This match can prove the efficacy of Bielsa’s philosophy of play.
