Ex Liverpool Value Coutinho’s Move to Barcelona is Correct

DBasia.news –  Albert Riera, a former Liverpool striker, considered Philippe Coutinho’s decision to move to Barcelona in the 2018 winter transfer window. Coutinho moved to one of the world’s best clubs.

Coutinho, 26, joined Barcelona with a £ 145 million dowry. Just a year playing with Ernesto Valverde’s team, the Brazilian star has won two La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup.

Riera, a former Liverpool player in mid-2008-2010, saw Coutinho take the right step to leave the Merseyside club headed for Catalunya. Coutinho took the opportunity well.

“Yes, he came from a very big club like Liverpool and went, perhaps, to the best club in the world at the moment. Not everyone has that opportunity,” Riera told Goal.

Riera also believes Coutinho can still perform better at Barcelona. Lately, Coutinho’s performance has been highlighted because it appears below the average ability and is not comparable with the official price.

“If we all talk about performance, we have to think clearly that he is a player who can always be chosen. In the end, if they demand more, this is because they know what he can give,” Riera added.

“They (Barcelona) have a lot of quality and he can perform better even though he is a very important player. He is the first player to want to play, 100 percent,” he concluded.
