Excessive celebrations of Simeone resulted in a penalty from UEFA

Diego Simeone
UEFA sanctioned Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone for his vulgar celebration against Juventus in the first leg of the Champions League 16th at Wanda Metropolitano Stadium.
Diego Simeone enthusiastically welcomed Atletico’s opening goal scored by Gimenez. The Argentine coach celebrated while holding the groin and facing the Atletico Madrid stands.
Simeone’s reaction invited criticism from various circles. He immediately apologized after the match ended.
“I don’t show celebrations for other teams. I am facing our supporters. I admit that it is not a good gesture, but I feel I have to do it, “Simeone said.
“It was a difficult match, we fought very hard and Diego Costa struggled when he was not 100 percent fit. I had to show what I felt. I could only apologize if it offended any party, but it came from my heart,” he said again.
Simeone threatened not to be able to accompany Atletico when facing Juventus in the second leg at the Allianz Stadium on 12 March.
