DBasia.news – Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard accused Aston Villa’s goal of being invalid due to a handball. Lampard admitted that in the match Villa provided fierce resistance.
Chelsea only won one point after only playing 1-1 when they hosted Aston Villa in the 2020-2021 Premier League match, at Stamford Bridge Stadium, Tuesday (29/12) am, WIB.
Chelsea took the lead in the 34th minute through Olivier Giroud. However, Anwar El Ghazi’s goal at the start of the second half ruined the Blues’ victory.
Lampard felt, Villa’s balancing goal was controvercial. Because, according to him, a handball first occurred.
“They are tough opponents. However, we have a great chance,” said Lampard after the match as reported by the BBC.
“I think there was a handball before the goal right next to the linesman. When you have a difficult moment like this it becomes conflicting.”
Frank Lampard admits Chelsea’s performance has not been good enough. Moreover, there are a number of new players who have not been maximal.
“Apart from the win, the response was right. We had a number of small chances. It felt like the opportunity came from us. This is a difficult period at the moment. We have to fight and will be stronger,” stated Lampard.
“You want to get results this year. I can feel the disappointment of the players because they want to win in the end.”
“A few weeks ago people talked about us as title contenders. Now, this is a challenging period. The new players will be better in the coming period.”
Currently, Chelsea is ranked sixth in the standings after collecting 26 points from 16 matches. Next, Chelsea is scheduled to meet Manchester City on Sunday (3/1).
