DBasia.news – Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer from Juventus to Manchester United in the summer of 2021 is in the spotlight besides the departure of Lionel Messi from Barcelona to PSG. Ronaldo, at the age of 36, is starting his second spell with United in the world’s best league.
Playing in a competitive and fast league like the Premier League is not an easy matter for ‘parents’ or players aged 30 years and over. But Ronaldo showed that age so far is just a number on paper.
Ronaldo has played three games since arriving from Juventus and he has scored four goals, even Messi who is three years his junior has yet to score with PSG. At the end of last week Ronaldo scored another goal for United.
In a tough game against West Ham United at London Stadium, Ronaldo pulled one back from Said Benrahma’s goal, before Jesse Lingard sealed United’s second-half victory and David De Gea was the hero to save Mark Noble’s penalty.
Apart from these goals, there are other interesting things from Ronaldo. The five-time Ballon d’Or winner and overseer of five Champions League titles did things that players of his age shouldn’t do.
Ronaldo has already shown that against Newcastle United in his second debut at Old Trafford. He scored a goal while responding to Luke Shaw’s assist, sprinting against opposing defenders and scoring goals.
The same sprint he showed against West Ham. From data quoted from Marca, United’s number 7 user did a sprint with a top speed of 32.51 kilometers per hour.
This means, Ronaldo finished the game as the fastest player in the match beating two names younger than him, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Jarrod Bowen.
“Ronaldo felt the big moments and he was ruthless (scoring goals). He was lethal and lifted his team-mates in the game,” said United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
“He smelled the potential for danger and became a great team player and a great goalscorer.”
Thanks to his contribution so far United are unbeaten in the league and won 13 points with Liverpool and Chelsea. United also extended their unbeaten run in the league to 29 games.
