Fiorentina president reveals reasons for releasing Dusan Vlahovic
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Fiorentina’s decision to sell Dusan Vlahovic to Juventus caused a wave of criticism from supporters. This made Rocco Commisso as the club president speak up on the matter.
Fiorentina does have a long rivalry with Juventus. Selling stars to the Bianconeri is certainly something that should not be done.
Vlahovic is not the first Fiorentina player to cross to Juventus. But this transfer still sparked the anger of La Viola supporters.
The real protest action was carried out by Fiorentina supporters. Commisso is considered the most responsible person in the transfer of Vlahovic.
Fiorentina did make a big profit by selling Vlahovic for a fee of €75 million. Even so, Commisso insists he has no plans to release his flagship striker.
“I’m very disappointed with the criticism I’ve received. I think I have shown my values and behavior with what we have all done for Fiorentina,” Commisso told the club’s official website.
“Vlahovic wants to stay until his contract runs out (in June 2023) and defeat Fiorentina. His agent wants a 10% discount on the transfer fee and the exclusive right to negotiate next steps.”
“They want to make money off of us, so selling them now is a great operation,” he added.
Commisso knew he couldn’t stop Vlahovic from leaving. But he wants to sell him outside of Italy because of the great interest shown by Arsenal.
Arsenal even gave a bigger offer than Juventus. But Vlahovic really only wants to move to Juventus.
“We had a good meeting in November. I expected a positive response to sign (extension) the contract, but he asked for double,” Commisso continued.
Threatening to sell Fiorentina
The wave of protests shown by Fiorentina supporters has heated Commisso. He threatened to sell the club as he felt his hard work was not appreciated.
“Now I realize that there are some who value my money, but not my presence in Florence,” said Commisso.
“I have to reflect very carefully, analyze deeply and make clear and transparent decisions, out of respect for the fans who continue to show me respect.”
Commisso officially took over Fiorentina in the summer of 2019 for a fee of €165 million. He claims to have spent more than €300 million to fix the club from Tuscany.
