Former Manchester United Defender Says Van Gaal Doesn’t Like Brazilian Players

DBasia.news – A war of words broke out between former Manchester United player, Rafael and former Man United manager, Louis van Gaal. Rafael, from Brazil, accused Van Gaal of hating Brazilian players and the manager retaliated.
Rafael who defended Man United in mid 2008-2015 left when Van Gaal was in charge of the club. This attack launched by Rafael was not the only time this had happened, he once judged Van Gaal as the worst coach and Van Gaal replied that he was angry because he failed to play regularly in his era.
Now Rafael accuses Van Gaal of hating players from Brazil after not explaining to him the reason for his exit from the group. Rafael’s theory comes to refer to Van Gaal’s time when he coached Barcelona from mid 1997-2000 and had a row with Brazilian legend, Rivaldo.
“I never got an explanation. When Van Gaal arrived he just said, ‘OK, you go’. He came up with an idea about the players he wanted, and didn’t want, and started making those changes instantly. He never explained it to me,” said Rafael quoted from the Mirror.
“But I’ve heard a few explanations from other people and, before he even arrived, everyone was telling me, ‘He hates Brazilians’.”
So what is Van Gaal’s response this time? The Dutch coach, speaking to The Athletic, said that Rafael was hurt because he couldn’t compete with Antonio Valencia. He also did not agree with Rafael’s opinion.
“You can’t imagine a human being or a coach – if he doesn’t consider a Brazilian professional – to think the same as other Brazilians. He (Rafael) was kicked out of the team by Antonio Valencia,” Van Gaal explained.
“To be honest, he lost the fight (of the playing ground) against Valencia. I changed Valencia from a right winger to a right full-back. Valencia also played as a right full-back after I was sacked and replaced by Jose Mourinho, so was my choice a bad choice?
