Former Manchester United goalkeeper retires

By db-admin

DBasia.news – The goalkeeper has announced in his YouTube video, The Cycling GK, that he has decided to retire.

Foster revealed that he was actually offered a contract by Newcastle United, following Karl Darlow’s injury, but chose not to take it due to family reasons.

“I have an announcement, it’s a big announcement. The time has finally come for me to announce my resignation,” he said before speaking about Newcastle.

“I knew for sure if I went there I would have had a great period, the players were absolutely brilliant and I would have goosebumps in the stadium, remembering the fans and everything, but I felt like i didn’t want to do this again.”

Foster played for a number of clubs including Manchester United, West Brom, Birmingham City and Watford during his career.

He won the League Cup three times, twice with the Red Devils and once with Birmingham.

Foster also has 8 caps with England and was part of the Three Lions squad at the 2014 World Cup. He now plans to enjoy life as a YouTube star.

Foster became the oldest visiting goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the Premier League in February at the age of 38 years 329 days.

The 39-year-old player hasn’t announced any plans so far, but has done a variety of media work, while his Cycling GK YouTube channel has over a million followers.
