DBasia.news – Former Go Ahead Eagles player, Sjoerd Overgoor, spilled the detail on the style of coaching the new manager of Manchester United, Erik ten Hag has. Overgoor himself had worked with the coach at the Dutch club.
On Thursday (21/4) evening WIB, Manchester United officially confirmed that they had appointed Erik ten Hag as the new manager of the Red Devils. The 52-year-old coach will take charge in the 2021/22 season and has been awarded a three-season contract with the option of a 12-month extension.
Later, Sjoerd Overgoor mentioned regarding Ten Hag’s coaching style. Overgoor, who had worked with the coach, claimed that Ten Hag was known as a perfectionist.
“He wants his drinks to be laid out in a straight line. Everything has to be perfect in his eyes. People need time to get used to that,” Overgoor told Sky Sports.
“We have one person whose job is to guard the pitch. Every day Erik would come to him and say the grass should be two millimeters or something like that.”
Overgoor also claims Ten Hag as a special coaching figure. Overgoor assessed that Ten Hag had the ability to make the team he coached perform better.
“It was a big difference for everyone at the club. He changed everything. Remember, this is not a big club in Holland. We don’t have the best facilities but he makes them the best.”
“Many coaches come to a club like the Eagles and have the attitude that they have to deal with it. He doesn’t deal with it. Instead, he makes it even better.”
