By db-admin
DBasia.news – Continuing the five elite European leagues for the 2020-2021 season seems to be bad luck for the defending champions. This is because four of failed to win.
Competitions in five of Europe’s elite leagues, namely the Premier League, LaLiga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 this season have indeed run more fiercely than before. Minimal preparation, busy schedules, and the corona virus pandemic are among the causes.
Evidently, the defending champions in the five elite European leagues have lost even though the competition is still in its early stages. Two of them even had trouble just to penetrate the top flight.
As promised, four of the five defending champions have failed to win this weekend. The four defending champions are Liverpool (Premier League), Real Madrid (LaLiga), Juventus (Serie A), and Paris Saint-Germain (Ligue 1).
Juventus were only able to draw 1-1 when they visited the headquarters of the promoted team, Benevento. This result has made the Bianconeri scatter from the top flight by sitting in fifth place.
Things that are not much different are experienced by Liverpool and PSG. The two teams also drew in the continued Premier League and Ligue 1.
The story of the two teams in achieving this result is also quite similar. Liverpool and PSG have both failed to maintain their advantage over their opponents, namely Brighton & Hove Albion and Bordeaux.
Luckily, Liverpool and PSG are still able to top their respective league standings. However, their position is prone to be displaced by rivals.
Madrid experienced a more tragic fate. Zinedine Zidane’s team are the only defending champions to lose this weekend.
Ironically, the defeat happened at home. Madrid was unable to do much at home to Alaves and were beaten by a score of 1-2.
The defeat was the second of Madrid’s last three LaLiga matches. Los Blancos now have to settle for sitting in fourth place.
Practically, only defending champion, Bayern Munich has successfully packed three points after a 3-1 win over Stuttgart. These results confirmed Die Roten’s position at the top of the Bundesliga standings.
