Frank Lampard asks Chelsea fans to be more patient with Kai Havertz

DBasia.news – Chelsea manager, Frank Lampard gave his defence to the criticisms directed at Kai Havertz. He has asked Blues fans to be patient if they didn’t want the story of Mohamed Salah and Kevin De Bruyne to repeat itself.
Havertz came to Stamford Bridge by breaking Chelsea’s transfer record last summer. Naturally, high expectations was placed on him.
But so far, Havertz’s appearance is far from convincing. He has only scored five goals and six assists from 23 appearances in all competitions.
The minor results achieved by Chelsea in the past month has made Havertz’s condition even more challenging. A few have started labeling him as a failed purchase.
“Kevin De Bruyne and Mo Salah are players who are here at the same age as Kai. They went and took the last time back until now they become absolute Premier League legends,” said Lampard.
Chelsea is known as a club that likes to gather talented young players. But in the end, players in this category were often loaned out to success at other clubs.
De Bruyne and Salah are the best examples of this practice. Both of them failed to win the main place in the Chelsea squad when they were young until they finally transformed into stars in rival clubs.
Lampard certainly doesn’t want that to happen again. He believes Havertz’s quality will help Chelsea to succeed.
“I don’t want to build Kai’s career by putting pressure on his shoulders. There has to be time for young players who come to this league, where people have to give them time, patience and sometimes a little room to develop,” he added.
“I know him well, he is a good lad and my job is to train him like I coached the young players who came last year in this team. Now is the time to give him confidence and show my support for him and he has absolute support from me.”
Lampard must immediately find a way to bring out Havertz’s quality. He has been pressed for time to get Chelsea back on track before losing his job.
