Frank Lampard Is Enthusiastic That Hakim Ziyech Will Soon Make His Debut with Chelsea
By db-admin
DBasia.news – After being recruited by Chelsea for a long time, Hakim Ziyech finally had the opportunity to debut in the match against Southampton. Frank Lampard admitted that he was very enthusiastic about this moment.
Chelsea announced the transfer of Ziyech from Ajax in February. He was recruited for 38 million pounds and signed a five-year contract.
Having appeared in a pre-season trial match against Brighton & Hove Albion, Ziyech has yet to make his competitive debut with Chelsea. In the match against Brighton, he suffered a knee injury which ruined his preparation for the new season.
But he has recovered and his condition has improved recently. The 27-year-old midfielder played for the Moroccan national team in a test match against Senegal last week and played 30 minutes.
Now he is brought by Chelsea for the match against Southampton at Stamford Bridge, Saturday (17/10/2020). Although the possibility of only taking part in the match was small, it was enough to make Chelsea manager Frank Lampard enthusiastic.
“Hakim Ziyech is in the squad, not fit to start the match but fit to take part in a few minutes, we hope so. We brought Hakim and it feels like it’s been a long time, but he hasn’t played since the Dutch League finished during the lockdown period,” said Lampard as reported by Sky Sports.
“It’s been a long time and he’s been working so hard. He’s been fantastic in terms of his professionalism to get back fit and look really good in training sessions.”
“We just need a few minutes to play now, but yes, of course I am excited to put him in the team and see him bring him to the club, which is the opportunity to create opportunities for us, to become the talented players that make him known,” he added.
