Frank Lampard teased Jurgen Klopp for losing to Everton

DBasia.news – Chelsea failed to score points when they were defeated by Everton in Week 12 of the Premier League. After the match Frank Lampard instead teased Jurgen Klopp.

Chelsea lost on a visit to Goodison Park, Liverpool, England, Sunday (13/12/2020) am. Gylfi Sigurdsson’s penalty goal forced the Blues to fall 0-1.

The defeat has made Lampard tease Klopp. The Liverpool manager had previously mentioned that Chelsea was a strong candidate to win the league this season.

Klopp’s statement is based on the quality of the Chelsea squad, who has been spending a lot in the transfer market. The London giants have indeed brought in many top players, from Timo Werner, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and Thiago Silva.

“If I watch football matches now, then Chelsea, appears to be favorite to me,” said Klopp on Sky Sports. “They have the biggest squad, great players who are doing well after a bad start,” added the reigning champions’ manager.

And defeat left Lampard armed to prove Klopp’s words were not true. The English manager argued that the Chelsea squad was also inhabited by many young players, unlike Liverpool, whose majority of the squad has won the Premier League and Champions League before.

“I keep reading, how can we have the strongest squad in the league. I don’t understand that,” stated Lampard.

“The teams around us have titles and strikers who can score 30 goals every year, as well as players who have won the Champions League.”

“We have several who have also won titles, but there are also some who are new to the Premier League and are still young. We are still working and results like this could happen. I am not happy about that, but it can happen,” he explained.

The defeat of Everton has kept Chelsea in third place in the Premier League standings, with 22 points from 12 matches. The Blue is still below Liverpool, who are in second place with 24 points, equal to Tottenham Hotspur.
