Frank Lampard Wants Chelsea to Extend Willian Contract

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Chelsea manager Frank Lampard wants the management to find a solution to be able to extend the contract of Brazilian winger Willian Borges da Silva. The 31-year-old player has just signed a short-term contract with The Blues.

Meaning that Willian can still defend Chelsea until the 2019/2020 season ends. After that, the former Shakhtar Donetsk player fate is said to be unknown. The club still continue to discuss with representatives of the winger.

Lampard wants Willian to stay. But in August 2020 he will be enterting the age of 32 years. Whatever happened, the tactician never doubted Willian’s commitment to The Blues.

“If we get there (an extension of cooperation), I will be happy. If not, I will learn the best for him. I still have plenty of time for him in the short term. We’ll see, what he can do for us,” Lampard said as quoted from the club’s official website, Saturday (4/7).

Willian showed a slick performance towards the end of the season. The Selecao former key player hero has scored five goals in the latest six matches.

Such facts have proven the quality of the first-class Corinthians academy graduate. But Chelsea have difficulty holding players over 31 years old. This is a problem faced by both camps.

At the same time, The Blues just got two attacking players. First Hakim Ziyech from Ajax Amsterdam. Then Timo Werner from RB Leipzig. But Lampard was reluctant to comment on the impact of Ziyech and Werner’s presence.

“I don’t want to talk too far in the future. Right now we have a great squad. We have work to do,” concluded Lampard.
