Frenkie de Jong’s Doubt Against Manchester United
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester United’s efforts to bring Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona are still ongoing. But the player is still hesitant to move to Old Trafford.
A revolution is happening at Manchester United with the arrival of Erik ten Hag as the new manager. The Dutch tactician is expected able to bring the Red Devils back into the title race.
To do that, Ten Hag has asked for an additional number of players. One of the main ones is De Jong.
Ten Hag wants to make De Jong the new Manchester United midfield general. Both of them already know each other as they have worked together at Ajax Amsterdam.
Manchester United has also made an approach to Barcelona. However, negotiations between the two clubs were tough.
Barcelona seem quite open to selling De Jong. Even so, the Blaugrana has set a high price of around 85 million euros.
Manchester United figured out that Barcelona intended to cut De Jong’s salary in order to save the club’s balance sheet. This should have triggered the 25-year-old player to move.
However, according to Sport reports, De Jong is still hesitant to accept the proposal of Manchester United. One reason being the poor trend of the British giants since Sir Alex Ferguson left.
Manchester United’s reputation as a big team has indeed begun to fade in the last decade. The absence of a Premier League trophy and his frequent absence from the Champions League during that period are proof of that.
De Jong is worried that his career will become dim after joining Manchester United. The presence of Ten Hag was unable to dispel these doubts.
In addition, Barcelona is also De Jong’s dream club for some time. He has also purchased a house in the city where his club now resides.
Moving to England would mean that the adaptation process would have to start over from scratch. Moreover, Manchester’s weather is known to be less friendly.
These reasons are quite plausible. So don’t be surprised if De Jong later cancels his move to Manchester United.
