Fulham 1-1 Liverpool, Mohamed Salah Breaks Cristiano Ronaldo’s Goals Record

DBasia.news – Liverpool striker, Mohamed Salah scored one goal that saved his team from defeat against Fulham. This goal has made Salah surpass Cristiano Ronaldo’s record goals.
Liverpool failed to coup Tottenham Hotspur’s position from the top of the standings. Facing Fulham who is a promoted team and trying to get away from the relegation zone, the Reds did not play with the high tempo as usual.
Despite dominating possession of the ball by 75% vs 25%of the hosts, Liverpool could only score one goal against Fulham from 12 attempted kicks and six on target.
The goal came from Mohamed Salah in the 79th minute through the spot which replied to Bobby Reid’s goal at Fulham’s camp in the 25th minute. The result has disappointed Jurgen Klopp, as Liverpool played slowly and did not start the match well.
“We didn’t play well (at the start of the match). If they had to get up, I don’t know, but I can’t write a book and throw it on the pitch and ask them to read it,” Klopp said as quoted by Goal.
“What I want is to shake ourselves up and start again. A good start is great, but if you don’t have a good start then you can start again, start again, start again.”
“It took us half an hour to start the game. So that’s why I shouted at them a little,” added the German manager.
Collectively Liverpool have not performed well, but not for Mo Salah personally. According to Opta, the Egyptian star has now scored 85 goals in the Premier League and surpassed the record for goal scoring from Manchester United legend, Cristiano Ronaldo.
Mo Salah has also scored the most Premier League goals in 2020 (20 goals from 29 appearances – four more than the top goals corer). His added goal was also Salah’s 23rd goal against teams from London in 34 league appearances for Liverpool.
Those 85 goals equaled Eden Hazard’s 85 goals for Chelsea as well as former Liverpool striker, Fernando Torres. Salah did it from 132 matches, Torres 212 appearances, and Hazard 245 matches.
Given that he is only 28 years old (the golden age of a European player) and three years for Liverpool, plus the engraving of the record he has broken so far, Mo Salah can still set many other records in the future.
