Gabriel Magalhaes’ Special Debut with Arsenal
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Arsenal kicked off the 2020/2021 Premier League season with a win over Fulham. This result cannot be separated from the slick performance of the two debutants, Gabriel Magalhaes.
In a match that took place at Craven Cottage, Saturday (12/9), Arsenal managed to beat Fulham 3-0. Gabriel was instrumental in this victory.
The Brazilian national player felt like being in a dream debut as he was able to contribute one goal and keep a clean sheet. While the other two goals were scored by Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Arteta honestly did not think Gabriel could play that well. He believes that the player who had just arrived in England needed time to adapt to the character of the games of the Premier League clubs.
In addition, the player brought in by Arsenal from Lille has actually not played in a competitive match for six months. The reason is of course because last season Ligue 1 was prematurely stopped due to the effects of the corona virus pandemic.
“He hasn’t played football for six months. So to come and play in the Premier League after training with the team for three or four days is a big task,” Arteta told the BBC.
“The boy is showing character and everything he can do. He can still improve a lot but he already has a great game.”
Arteta certainly hopes that Gabriel’s presence can be a solution to Arsenal’s fragile defense. Last season, the Gunners had to concede 48 times in the Premier League which resulted in them only being able to finish in eighth place.
