Gareth Southgate calls Marcus Rashford different

DBasia.news – The victory for the England national team over Wales in the final match of Group B for the 2022 World Cup was marked by two goals from Marcus Rashford.

This goal made Rashford compete in the top ranks of the World Cup top scorer list, which is inhabited by Cody Gakpo, Enner Valencia, and Kylian Mbappe.

Rashford has now scored three goals at the World Cup, and put in a mature performance against his failure in the Euro 2020 final, in executing a penalty.

Gareth Southgate saw how the Manchester United bomber had become a different figure. “It’s a challenge for him,” said Southgate.

“I went and saw him in the summer and had a long chat with him. He had some clear ideas about the things he felt he needed to think about and do,” Southgate continued.

“You can see at his club there is joy in his performances this year. That has shown itself on the training ground all the time he has been with us,” said the manager.

Southgate believes that the player who graduated from the Euro 2020 final has become a different figure at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. That was most apparent in Rashford.

“We have a completely different version of the player we had at the Euros last summer. He [Rashford] managed to produce those moments tonight. He could have had a hat-trick with a first-half chance and one at near post towards the end, but it’s good for him and good for us.”
