Gary Neville’s prediction for Manchester United this season
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester United legend, Gary Neville admitted that he was pessimistic about the chance for MU to challenge for the title this season. He believes the Red Devils will not finish in the top two this season.
Manchester United are entering the 2020/21 season on a strong note. They managed to finish in third place in last season’s EPL standings.
But last season, the gap between three place and first place was very far. Liverpool as the EPL champions last season were 30 points ahead of the Red Devils.
Neville said that MU must be able to continue their positive trend this season. “I think Manchester United are in a similar position to Chelsea,” Neville told Sky Sports.
Neville believes that United are still far from being a title contender. He said the Red Devils were not ready to be in that position.
“They have to make progress from last season, and I don’t think the fans expect them to finish in the top two this season.”
“I’m not sure they’re ready for that, but they have to close the gap by the big two. They have to make sure that the gap with the big two gets smaller and they also have to grow.”
Neville said that to challenge for the title, MU had to purchase more players. He said there were several positions that the Red Devils had to strengthen.
“They have to purchase strikers, right winger and center back. It is mandatory.”
“In a few years, Manchester United must be ready to fight when the levels of Manchester City and Liverpool drops, and that may happen when Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp leaves.” he stated.
Solskjaer and the Manchester United squad collapsed in their first match in the EPL event. They were beaten by Crystal Palace with a score of 3-1.
