Germany challenged by Spain
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Luis Enrique, coach of the Spanish national team, reminded his players not to get cocky when they were favored to win against Germany on matchday 2 of Group E of the 2022 World Cup.
Spain will face a test from Germany after winning big in the first match. Spain defeated Costa Rica seven goals without reply.
In the match, Spain again won three points. Understandably, Germany are struggling after losing to Japan.
Nevertheless, Luis Enrique still views Germany as a great team. Moreover, history also proves it.
“We tried to manage the win against Costa Rica with all normality. It resonates and gives confidence, but we shouldn’t get too arrogant. We are facing an opponent who will beat us up if we get too confident,” Enrique said as quoted by beIN Sports.
“It’s a big challenge. They have won the World Cup four times. We respect Germany a lot. They have great players and history cannot be denied.”
“Germany are a great team, so much mobility. If we can control that, great. Otherwise, I have to think about every element,” said the former AS Roma coach.
Nevertheless, Enrique believes Spain will still win. He will see every detail of the fight.
“However, we are confident we can beat Germany. We don’t want a crazy open game because if they play high blocks we might be taking too many risks.”
“There are many things we have to know. However, we have to follow our own principles, which are very similar to them,” explained Enrique.
Germany have only won once of the last seven meetings against Spain in various competitions. The rest are 2 draws and 4 losses.
