Gianluca Vialli’s Vital Role Behind Italy’s Success

By db-admin

DBasia.news – The success of the Italian national team in winning the 2020 European Cup was inseparable from the important role of Gianluca Vialli. This was confirmed by Giorgio Chiellini.

As is known, Vialli recently died in London, Friday (6/1) local time from Pancreatic cancer, which he has suffered from since 2017.

Vialli’s departure left deep sorrow for world football, especially Italy. His services were evident for Gli Azzurri both when he was still playing or after retiring.

Vialli’s contribution was also clearly seen at the 2020 European Cup. He was given the mandate to lead the Italian national team in the tournament.

Vialli carried out this role with the condition already suffering from cancer. But he ignored it and focused on helping Roberto Mancini’s team to achieve maximum results.

“A great person who doesn’t want to see us cry. He (Vialli) has left us after many years as a team-mate, coach, director, husband and father,” Chiellini told Sky Sports.

“He can always find the right words and touch your heart. The relationship with Mancini on and off the pitch will remain forever.”

Vialli and Roberto Mancini have been friends since strengthening Sampdoria in the early 90s. This made the collaboration between the two in the Italian national team run smoothly.

As group leader, Vialli has the responsibility to maintain the mental condition of the Italian national team players. The success of winning a championship is proof that he is carrying out this role to the fullest.

“We don’t like cameras in the locker room because we want to keep it private. But I am happy that the documentary was shot during the European Championship so that everyone can see his role and get to know him better.”

“It’s good to remember Gianluca for everything he gave us. He left us too soon.”
