By db-admin
DBasia.news – Jordan Henderson is confirmed to be sidelined for a long time after undergoing surgery for a groin injury. Goal reported on Friday (26/2/2021), Henderson will be sidelined for at least five weeks.
Already hit by a ladder. That’s what Liverpool experienced against Everton. Apart from not getting points because they lost 2-0, the Reds also lost Jorden Henderson who was injured.
Playing as a starter, Henderson took up the position of center back. However, when the game had been running for 30 minutes, the captain suffered an injury and had to be replaced by Nathaniel Phillips.
Apparently, the injury was quite severe. In order to recover, Henderson had to climb onto the operating table.
“Henderson has successfully performed a recovery procedure for the adductor injury. He will begin the recovery program immediately,” Liverpool wrote in an official statement.
“There is no specific timeframe targeted for when he will return. However, Henderson will initially be sidelined until after the international break in March,” continued The Reds.
ESPN reports that Henderson’s recovery period will take a long time. The 30-year-old player will be out for the next five weeks.
Bad News for the Slumps
The news is certainly a blow to Liverpool. Because Henderson is the hope at the back after Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip suffered long-term injuries.
Moreover, the opponents Liverpool will face in the next few games are quite strong. The Reds will face Sheffield United, Chelsea, Fulham and Wolves. In addition, Liverpool will also fight in the second leg of the last 16 of the Champions League against RB Leipzig.
Currently, Liverpool are ranked sixth in the standings with 40 points from 25 matches. The Reds are five points adrift of fourth place, West Ham United.
