Granit Xhaka’s Opinion About Unai Emery

DBasia.news – TUnai Emery wasn’t only changing Arsenal’s performance since his arrival this season. According to The Gunners midfielder Granit Xhaka, Emery is also developing his capability as a player.

Granit Xhaka joined Arsenal with £40M transfer fee from Borussia Monchengladbach two years ago. But, during his first year in Arsenal, he often looked clumsy and too aggressive as a defending midfielder.

But now, his performance is getting better. Playing with Lucas Torreira in the midfield, Xhaka has more space to attack. He thinks it’s the result of Unai Emery’s presence replacing Arsene Wenger.

“It’s definitely my best season so far. Without a doubt, I think I’ve taken another step forward. It’s the best I’ve felt at Arsenal since I came to the club and the coach has had an enormous influence,” Xhaka told Aargauer Zeitung.

“He prepares us all and we have a plan. We know how to do it with the ball and without the ball. We know how and when to stand where.”

“Emery is like Lucien Favre (whom Xhaka played for at Gladbach), a freak who pushes us back and forth, 10 times until everyone understands,” he continued.

“I never had contact with him (Emery) until after the World Cup. When I got back to training, the first thing he told me was: ‘Granit, you’re one of my five captains.’,” Xhaka said.

It makes Xhaka proud and confident. He thinks Arsenal are top 10 best teams in the world.

“It was a great sign of the club to extend my contract until 2023. For me, that’s a huge sign of appreciation. I knew then I was very important to the club,” the player said.
