Guardiola on Aguero and Jesus’ Rivalry

By news-admin

Gabriel Jesus

DBasia.news – The presence of Gabriel Jesus made Sergio Aguero must share his playing minute with the Brasilian player in Manchester City. Now, City coach Pep Guardiola warned to bench Aguero if he performed poorly.

As we know, City have announced Aguero’s contract extension on Friday. Now, the Argentinian player will stay in Manchester until June 2021.

The 30-year-old player proved himself as one of the prominent strikers in EPL since coming from Atletico Madrid in 2011. But City coach Pep Guardiola emphasized the contract extension doesn’t mean that he will play regularly in the team.

Guardiola even demands Aguero to perform better than two years ago when he coached him for the first time. The rivalry to fill the main striker position of City is tight, especially since the team recruited Jesus from Palmeiras.

Sergio Aguero

Asked whether Guardiola worries Aguero will leave City as the downgraded status, he answered: “Never. You all asked me many times, especially in the first year when we didn’t win, and sometimes he didn’t play, ‘What’s the problem with Sergio?'”

“I understand when you take that decision – it happened in Barcelona many times – I always know the reaction (will be bad) when the result is not good, but I have to take decisions.”

“But the relationship (with Aguero) was always top, was perfect, and I’m delighted he can continue playing here. Always when he didn’t play few, few, few times it’s because I believed Gabriel could play, or play with a false nine or whatever. That is going to happen the next three years,” Guardiola uttered.

Seeing the reports of both players this season, actually, Aguero has a better record than Jesus. Aguero has scored 5 goals from 7 matches in all competitions. While Jesus just scored 1 goal from 7 matches.
