Gunnar Solskjaer’s Fate is Determined when Manchester United goes up against Liverpool
By db-admin
DBasia.news – The fate of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as Manchester United coach can be determined in the North West Derby match which will take place at Old Trafford. The match between Manchester United and Liverpool will take place in Week nine of the Premier League, Sunday (10/20) at 22:30 WIB.
The current pressure is entirely on the United legend from 1996-2007. Under his direction this season, the Red Devils has swallowed three defeats in the Premier League, three draws and two wins. A run of nine points has put United in 12th place – two points adrift of the relegation zone.
Other minor statistics has also accompanied the 46-year-old manager. Solskjaer’s winning ratio is in the range of 47.5 percent and this is the worst for other United managers since Dave Sexton in the 1977-1981 season.
United’s goal conversion rate in the Premier League this season is only 8.2 percent, the fifth worst in the league. In eight meetings with Liverpool, United had only won once, five matches ended in a draw, and two matches won by Liverpool.
From the naked eye when viewed from the standings, Liverpool are also in good momentum eight consecutive wins (unbeaten), are at the top of the standings, and within 15 points adrift of Manchester United. It is understandable if United holds the status of non-seeded ahead of the match later.
The match against Liverpool could be the determination of Solskjaer’s fate. Keep in mind, last season United also fired Jose Mourinho in December 2018, shortly after United were humiliated by Liverpool with a score of 1-3 at Anfield.
In better conditions at the moment, Liverpool can make United’s problems even more complicated if Solskjaer is unable to awaken and motivate his players.
“There is great fear from some people in the club if Liverpool wins a landslide victory over United on October 20, there will be an external reaction which creates pressure and is difficult for the club to hold. Alternatively, Solskjaer is not fit to fill the job if he loses to Liverpool, “says the article in the BBC Sport article written by Simon Stone.
“The biggest question is: will United support the 46-year-old coach if things get worse?”
Interesting question. The public will soon find out from the match and also after the match takes place at Old Trafford.
