Half of His Goals from Penalties, Bruno Fernandes Still Proud of This

DBasia.news – Bruno Fernandes scored the penalty that Manchester United won over Aston Villa 2-1. The Portuguese football star doesn’t care about scorn.
MU won the victory when they hosted Villa at Old Trafford, Saturday (2/1/2021). Anthony Martial opened MU’s lead with a goal late in the first half, then the visitors responded with a Bertrand Traore goal early in the second half.
Violation against Paul Pogba forced the referee to award a penalty for MU. Fernandes stepped forward as the executor to send the ball into the bottom corner of the Villa goal which goalkeeper Emilliano Martinez was unable to hold.
With this goal Bruno Fernandes means that he has contributed 33 goals (19 goals, 14 assists) in his first 30 appearances for Manchester United. Those statistics make him only lose to Andy Cole who contributed 37 goals (28 goals, 9 assists) in Premier League history.
However, Fernandes is often ridiculed because nine of his 19 league goals have come from penalties. However, the 26-year-old footballer insists that all goals are the same.
“I feel I have to take a penalty but the important thing is to score goals and it doesn’t matter how,” he was quoted as saying by Metro. “You need to win games no matter what.”
“I felt confident when I took a penalty, otherwise I would have left it to another player.”
Bruno Fernandes has an impressive penalty record. After joining MU, Fernandes only failed to convert a penalty once, against Newcastle United in October last year.
“He always wants to take penalties and that’s the first. He is never afraid to fail. So far he is very calm and he is a very confident player to take penalties,” said MU manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer of Bruno Fernandes.
