Harry Maguire Is a Race of Time
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Harry Maguire is optimistic about defending Manchester United for the Europa League final against Villarreal.
Maguire looks to be having crutches and wearing safety boots after he sustained ankle ligament damage in the match against Aston Villa about a week ago.
His injury has made the coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, worried that his team will experience the worst situation ahead of the final which will be held in Gdansk.
However, the latest update regarding Harry Maguire’s condition is quite encouraging and more positive, so that Solskjaer admits that he will give the Manchester United captain a chance until the last minute to prove his fitness.
“When I chatted with him this morning, he looked positive. Naturally, the day after the injury, things were going to really go downhill. But we decided, we have to focus and be positive, and think he will recover successfully,” said Solskjaer as reported by The Sun.
“He’s been able to show his progress, but we have consciously decided not to try it too soon. Hopefully we will all get good news, but I will give him as long as possible, because we know he is an important player,” added the Norwegian coach.
“We’ve known that for a long time, but maybe people will appreciate it more, when Harry Maguire isn’t playing,” he said.
“I was a very good player when I was injured, because people realized what I could do as a substitute and when I was a starting player,” said Solskjaer.
Manchester United have conceded six goals in the two games since Maguire was injured, which they also lost to Leicester and Liverpool in both games.
When he was withdrawn in the 78th minute of the match against Villa, it was the first moment for Harry Maguire to miss playing for United in the Premier League, since he was brought in in the summer of 2019.
Solskjaer’s squad currently has two more Premier League schedules, namely the home match against Fulham and the away match at Wolves’ headquarters on the last day, before finally deciding which team to play in the Europa League final.
“The situations are always difficult. You want everyone to have experience, but then you have to choose only 11 players. It is very difficult to make a decision like that, but it can mean a lot. This is my role and responsibility, I just want to do my best, “he said.
