Harry Maguire is claimed to be unworthy to become Man United’s captain

DBasia.news – In the last two matches at Old Trafford in the Premier League, Manchester United seemed to be a guest and were helpless to lose with a total aggregate goal of 0-7 against Liverpool (0-5) and Manchester City (0-2).

Two defeats to direct rivals in England has put the spotlight on the position of the manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. It’s not only Solskjaer who’s fragile, United’s defense is also a concern.

Especially to the central defender who was brought in for 80 million pounds in 2019 from Leicester City, Harry Maguire. Many have made the 28-year-old player a scapegoat for the fragility of United’s defense.

Maguire seems to have a hard time playing with that high value with the player’s poor performance, especially when there is news that Solskjaer is playing him too early this season as Maguire is not fully fit to play.

United have only kept two clean sheets from 12 games this season. Apart from Maguire’s fitness being highlighted, former United defender, Paul Parker is also surprised Maguire was awarded the captain’s position shortly after he was purchased from Leicester.

According to him it is too early and Maguire is not a player who deserves to be captain of United. Maguire is considered not to have the proper leadership to motivate his teammates.

“Manchester United gave Harry Maguire the position too early. It took a lot of people by surprise, it didn’t make sense and didn’t fit from day one,” Parker told BonusCodeBets.

“With the captain, it’s not about who has the biggest transfer fee or who is the best player.”

“There’s more to it than that. He’s not the right player to be captain of Manchester United at the moment and he has a lot in his game that needs to improve.”

In line with Parker, United legend, Roy Keane was also previously disappointed with Maguire after a crushing defeat to Liverpool. Instead of apologizing to fans, Maguire should fix his own performance.

“I heard Maguire talk for a week. He’s like a robot. He was like, ‘Apologies to the fans, there’s no emotion behind it.”

“And these players are in a European Cup which is good for England. They have appeared before for the big games. But recently Shaw has returned to his old habits of a few years ago.”

“I’m sick of his chats after the game with those who apologized. Harry Maguire talks about ‘We have to come together as a group’. No, you need to manage your game.”

“If you want to be the leader of that group, then you have to master the basics properly. You need to do your own thing.”

“People keep saying he might not be fit. Maybe usuitable? He scored against Leicester a few weeks ago. It has nothing to do with fitness. It’s just a lack of professionalism. He didn’t do his job properly.”
