DBasia.news – Jurgen Klopp was thrilled after seeing Harvey Elliott sign a new five-year contract at Liverpool.

The 19-year-old playerhas signed a deal that will keep him at Anfield until 2027, and he has thrived since signing from Fulham three years ago.

Elliott, who is fifth in NXGN’s 2022 youth player of the year, is seen by Liverpool as both a present and future star, and he is looking to establish himself as a regular under Klopp this season.

Elliott’s new deal is a five-year contract, which will see him receive a significant salary increase. The player signed an extension last summer, following an impressive loan season with Blackburn, but this latest move sees him rewarded for further developments in the Reds senior team.

Elliott started in midfield last year but a serious ankle injury has kept him out of action since September 2021.

He struggled to return to action last February, scoring his first competitive goal for Liverpool in his comeback game against Cardiff City, and was part of the squad that won the League Cup and FA Cup.

Quoted from the club’s official website, Elliott said: “It’s always nice to know that I will be here for many more years, which is always a great thing to be part of my boyhood club. Nothing makes me happier and more excited than this.”

“It’s been a huge rollercoaster for me and my family and even for the club. So much has happened in the years I’ve been here.”

“Kai has won so much and hopefully he can win more, so to know that I will be here for a longer time, as I said, is always a great feeling for me and my family, all of whom are Liverpool supporters.”

“I wish there were more memories that come with it, but I’m really excited to make my history here and stay here much longer.”

“There are many things I like about this. For us, as a club, we can continue our journey with special young players who have made a big impact at Liverpool,” said Klopp.

“For Harvey, he continues to develop, improve and hopefully fulfill his incredible talent at a club he has always loved. What’s not to love?”

“Harvey took a big hit last season but like all the experience he’s had so far, he’s used that to grow personally and as a player.”

“It’s always been clear that he’s a good footballer but taking the next step has always been about using information and experience to grow and this is what harvey does.'”

“Now it’s all about enjoying football as much as we enjoy watching it develop. It’s an exciting time for him and for us.”
