Henderson Extended the Contract

DBasia.news – Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson is officially extending his contract for another five years at Anfield.

The 28-year-old British midfielder joined Liverpool from Sunderland back in 2011. Since his debut, Henderson scored 283 performances and scored 24 goals.

Henderson’s contract is actually will end in 2020. He extended the 5-year contract in 2015. Now, he accepts the contract extension for another five years until 2023.

“It doesn’t seem like too long ago when I signed my first one – it feels like yesterday, really – but a lot has happened since then. I feel it’s been a progressive journey for me throughout my time here and one I’ve enjoyed so much,” Henderson said.

“There is no other place in the world I would rather play football. I want to be here for as long as I can be. I’m so privileged to have been a part of this club for so long, and hopefully even longer now.”

Henderson’s decision to extend the contract was welcomed by Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp. He mentioned Henderson as the “General” in his squad.

“Jordan embodies entirely what it means to be a Liverpool player in this modern era of football. The best thing is he will get even better in these coming years,” Klopp said quoted by BBC Sport.

“Jordan is so important to us and we are very fortunate as a club to have this person commit to us as he has. You can tell through his actions on and off the pitch,” Klopp continued.

“He is our ‘General’ and I trust him completely.”

With Liverpool, Henderson succeeded achieved the League Cup and performed in the final round of Champions League and FA Cup.
