If Jurgen Klopp resigns, Liverpool will appoint Xabi Alonso as coach

DBasia.news – Jurgen Klopp will not be at Liverpool forever. The coach who brought Liverpool to the Premier League championship (2019-2020) for the first time in 30 years is said to be leaving Anfield Stadium when his contract expires on June 30, 2024.

A number of names are said to be the successor to Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. They is RB Leipzig tactician, Julian Nagelsmann, Steven Gerrard (Glasgow Rangers coach and Liverpool legend) and Klopp’s current assistant, Pepijn Linders.

However, according to The Sun’s report, Saturday (12/26/2020), the names above are not a priority for Liverpool’s management. Liverpool management is targeting Real Sociedad B coach, who in fact is their former player from 2004-2009, Xabi Alonso.

Xabi Alonso, who is now 39 years old, is said to have the intelligence of his compatriot and senior, Josep Guardiola. The chances of Liverpool obtaining Xabi Alonso are quite likely, referring to his statement below.

“I’m still a Liverpool fan and will stay forever. The experience I had during my five years at Liverpool continues to be in my heart. The spirit and respect I have for the club and the fans are still the same,” Xabi Alonso said as quoted by The Sun, Saturday (26/12/2020).

Xabi Alonso’s prowess in processing formations is undoubtable. While active as a player, a number of well-known coaches have handled the flamboyant midfielder.

Namely Rafael Benitez, Manuel Pellegrini, Jose Mourinho, Carlo Ancelotti to Josep Guardiola. The opportunity to work with the names above has made Xabi Alonso rich in tactics.

However, Liverpool’s attempt to obtain Xabi Alonso’s signature will not be as easy. As Bayern Munich CEO, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has opened the possibility of obtaining Xabi Alonso’s signature one day.

“Xabi Alonso will be a coach who might be attractive to Bayern in the future,” said Rummeningge commenting on Xabi Alonso, a man who defended Bayern Munich in the 2014-2017 period.

Regardless, Liverpool are enjoying a golden age under Jurgen Klopp. In the last two seasons, Klopp has helped Liverpool win the 2019-2020 English League title, 2018-2019 Champions League, Club World Cup and 2019 European Super Cup.
