If They Want to Compete Next Season, Liverpool Have to Sell Salah

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Liverpool are considered to have to sell Mohamed Salah if they want to be able to compete in the title race next season. The suggestion was conveyed by former Reds goalkeeper David James.

This idea does sound strange and absurd. Salah is Liverpool’s top scorer in the 2020-2021 season so his contribution is very crucial for Jurgen Klopp’s team.

But James wasn’t kidding. He considered Liverpool would be much stronger without Salah’s presence.

“Salah may be second in the Golden Boot tally, but I think Liverpool have actually played better without Salah. Now the opportunity is for Liverpool to cash in on Salah,” James told Stadium Astro.

Since being brought in in the summer of 2017, Salah has immediately become Liverpool’s foundation in breaking into the opponent’s goal. His goals contributed to the Red Merseyside to the Champions League and Premier League trophies.

However, this condition makes Liverpool’s dependence on Salah very high. The effect was that their performance was not optimal when the Egyptian player performed poorly.

“(Diogo) Jota then naturally fit into the three-man scheme and Firmino got more freedom. Then Liverpool have a new dynamic up front rather than what looks like dependence, or dependence, on Salah goals,” he added.

Right time

According to James, now is the right time for Liverpool to sell Salah. The transfer value of the former Chelsea player is still very high on the market.

This advantage can be used by Liverpool to strengthen their squad. One of them bought a new attacker.

Salah was linked with Real Madrid. But it is doubtful that the Spanish giants will be able to sign him this summer due to the financial crisis.
