Inspired by the 60s, Manchester City release a new home jersey for the 2022/23 season

DBasia.news – Manchester City have released their new home kit for the 2022/23 season, The Citizen were inspired by club icon Colin Bell and the entertaining team of the late 1960s.
Pep Guardiola’s players will be hoping to have another Premier League title with their new kit in collaboration with the Puma trademark next season.
City, 60 years ago were crowned champions in 1968, while also clinching the FA Cup, League Cup and Cup Winners’ Cup for an impressive three years, with those at the Etihad Stadium claiming that no team can match style and so their kit is cool.
The Citizen said of their inspiration, Bell, in their latest home kit: “One of City’s best players, Bell was an inspiration to the club. In 1967 he led the team to their first league title in 31 years.”
“Inspired by the jersey worn in the Bell era, this new home kit pays homage to one of Manchester City’s greatest icons. Here, there, everywhere, Bell is a fan favorite for his incredible physique and boundless stamina. He is the heart of this team.”
What’s new about this new City kit is the club crest which is placed in the center of the light blue jersey with a maroon stripe on the sleeves. The crown logo placed within the neckline depicts a tribute to ‘Colin the King’.
Marco Mueller, the team’s senior head of sportswear, said of the design: “The new Manchester home jersey is a fitting tribute to history with a classic feel. We wanted to create a modern twist on the kit worn between 1967 and 1971.”
“The maroon stripe is an important detail as it is an iconic color seen on many of City’s previous home kits. It is a great tribute to the entertaining old teams and the free-flowing football of today’s City teams.”
Colin Bell’s son, Jon, added: “As a family we are deeply touched that the club and Puma have chosen to remember the teams of the late ’60s and my dad with the home kit next season, it’s a beautiful gesture.”
“It really appreciates the history and togetherness of Manchester City as a club, and I hope the fans like it and can remember those great moments.”
