Instead of Being Pulled Out, Lionel Messi Prefers to be a Substitute Player

DBasia.news –  Barcelona superstar, Lionel Messi, admitted that he would be better to be a substitute player than to be pulled out in the middle of the match. According to Messi, he feels that he will miss an important moment if he leaves the field before the fight ends and must be replaced by another player.

In the past, Messi had shown his obstinacy when he refused to be replaced by coach, Luis Enrique, when Barcelona won 3-0 against Eibar in October 2014.

In his interview with TyC Sports, Messi gave his reasons why he did not like being replaced in the middle of the match.

“I would rather play from the bench than be pulled out,” said the Argentine striker.

“I say this because there are key moments to the match usually present at the end of the fight. You will find a lot of space there as your opponents are getting tired.”

“I prefer to get off the bench rather than leave the field in the middle of the match that I miss the best moments of the match,” he explained.

Messi, 32, has scored 674 goals in 829 matches for his club and country. Despite having a classy goal record, Messi considers himself not a goal machine.

“I prefer to build attacks from behind, holding more balls, creating opportunities. I also like to stab into the penalty box and score goals, but I do not live for goals,” he added.

“I continue to learn to adjust to the situation on the field and find the right moment. I feel better in terms of reading the game and knowing when and where I can play more effectively and crucially.”
