Inter Milan Claimed Not Worried Playing Without Spectators

By db-admin

DBasia.news –  Serie A will be held without spectators for a month because of the corona virus threats. Even so, Inter Milan are not worried their performance will decline due to lack of support from their supporters.

Stadium emptying decision was announced on Wednesday (3/4/2020). This is to prevent the spread of the corona virus in Italy, which is entering a dangerous level in the country.

Lombardy, the region where Milan is located, is the most affected region. ANSA news agency reported, until Wednesday, 107 people have died of corona virus in Italy, 73 of them are in Lombardy.

Inter have already felt the impact. They had to host Ludogorets Razgrad in the last 32 of the Europa League, played without spectators on Thursday (2/27).

Two Italian League giornata against Sampdoria and Juventus have also been postponed. Similar as the Coppa Italia semi-final second leg against Napoli.

But Inter president Steven Zhang was not worried about his team’s performance despite having to play in a quiet stadium. Proved by 2-1 victory over Ludogorets.

“I’m not worried that a closed game will affect my team’s performance,” Zhang told BBC Sport.

“What I’m worried about is the risk of public safety if the match continues to be played in front of a large crowd,” he continued.

Zhang felt the decision to play without spectators issued by the Italian government was the right decision. So the sports calendar that has been prepared also continues to run on schedule.

“The decision to play a match without spectators is right,” Zhang said.

“As a club, we have the responsibility to deliver the right things. Security is clearly a top priority.”

“A closed game is clearly a difficult thing by considering various reasons. But for the calendar that has been prepared to run on schedule, this decision must be taken,” explained the 29-year-old man.
