Jack Grealish is asked to develop at Manchester City

DBasia.news – After successfully winning two consecutive league titles from 2020 to 2022, now the success of Manchester City cannot be doubted. But, Jack Grealish remains in the spotlight.

In his first season with The Citizens, the 26-year-old player has indeed successfully helped the club win the Premier League 2021-2022. But his contribution has not appeared significant, even though Man City had to spend a hefty amount to recruit him from Aston Villa.

100 million pounds was spent by Man City to bring him last season. Grealish scored six goals in all competitions from 39 matches, but he has not been optimal in showing his best form as when defending Villa.

Pep Guardiola also demanded that he develop and asked for more from Grealish, as well as with other Man City players this season to achieve success at the end of the season.

“The most important thing you need to know about Jack Grealish is that he won the Premier League. He came here to help us win the Premier League and he did,” said Guardiola.

“We had two other chances to reach the final and we were close (to winning it), but unlucky because of football and destiny like this.”

“Jack is loved in the changing room. He is humble and people are fond of him.”

“Of course I want more, not only from Jack but from all the players. I want more, I definitely want more. And he had to fight. We have a small squad and the competition up front is huge and they are great players.”

Guardiola also thinks there is no need for him to give Grealish more motivation, because he will be motivated to do so given the Qatar 2022 World Cup which will take place at the end of this year. Grealish must perform optimally in order to be called up by Gareth Southgate to the England national team.

“But that’s what it is. In the end everyone knew Jack. Every player. One minute on the pitch, show me. The better you can play the more chances you have to play more minutes,” added Guardiola.

“And we are optimistic because he has arrived here well and he knows he has the World Cup at the end of the year.”

“Manager Gareth knows he has a lot of options because there are a lot of good players in the England national team. And everyone knows what they have to do.”
