Jadon Sancho Demands Justice for George Floyd

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Three seasons with Borussia Dortmund, Jadon Sancho finally scored his first hat trick. The Paderborn goalkeeper in the 2019-20 continuing Bundesliga, Sunday (05/31/2020), became the victim of the wonderkid’s fierceness.

An African-American man died at the age of 46 after being tortured by a police officer named Derek Chauvin. Floyd was secured by the police in Minneapolis, Monday (5/25) local time after hearing of an alleged case of money counterfeit.

Floyd was cooperative with the police and followed with the procedure, he was reportedly not involved in money counterfeit as he didn’t know the card he was using had expired. However, after being examined Floyd was not secured to the police station.

Cauvin had pressed on Floyd’s neck with his knees until he was out of breath. Cauvin ignored him even though he had asked for help. As a result, when secured by an ambulance, Floyd’s condition weakened and died.

The video went viral on social media and sparked the anger of US citizens as Cauvin was believe to have been racist towards black people. Riots broke out in many places – specifically Minneapolis, while Chauvin and three policemen were arrested and charged with third-degree murder.

Martin Luther King Junior’s daughter, Bernice King continued her father’s struggle against racism but did not tolerate the riots and hoped everything could be resolved without violence.

“The only way we get what we want is without violence. Let’s do this without violence to face the evils of our time,” said Bernice King.

The issue was not only widely discussed in the US but also Europe. Football people also provided support for George Floyd’s justice.

Weston McKennie, a US Schalke player, began by wearing a black ribbon with the words ‘Justice for George’ in the Bundesliga match against Werder Bremen. After that there were Kylian Mbappe and Ian Wright.

Summarizing from various sources, two Borussia Dortmund young stars, Jadon Sancho and Achraf Hakimi also did so when Dortmund won 6-1 over Paderborn in the continued Bundesliga match.

Both of them undressed and showed the words ‘Justice for George Floyd’. The same thing was done by Borussia Monchengladbach striker, Marcus Thuram in the match against Union Berlin.

Thuram knelt and showed the symbol of resistance against racism that Colin Kaepernick, a former NFL quarterback had until the former San Francisco 49ers star no longer played in the NFL.

“Marcus has shown a firm attitude. He set an example against racism that we all support,” said Gladbach’s coach, Marco Rose.

Apart from the football club’s football people, Barcelona also voiced the battle against racism. Not only Floyd and other cases, Breonna Taylor also became a victim of racism in Louisville along with Ahmaud Arbery who died last February.
