Jadon Sancho’s message for the World Cup
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Sancho entered the game heartbroken to miss Gareth Southgate’s newest England squad.
Sancho put Manchester United ahead with a brilliant effort in the 17th minute as Erik Ten Hag’s side picked up their first points in the Europa League of the season. It was an impressive reaction amid the possibility of him not being present when England head into the World Cup in November.
Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo ended his goal drought by scoring his 699th goal for the club, with a penalty kick in the 38th minute to double the lead to 2-0.
Manchester United are now back to winning ways after losing to Real Sociedad in their inaugural Group E match last week.
Jadon Sancho:
On a day when his World Cup hopes were hit hard, Sancho gave the perfect response.
He is still fully showing his worth with Manchester United, but there have been flashes of his brilliance in the opening weeks of the season, as well as his growing potential under Ten Hag.
His goal demonstrated impeccable close-range control and lethal finishing quality.
Picking up the ball on the edge of the box from Christian Eriksen, he quickly transferred it to his left foot before firing home.
Manchester United need to see more of that and so will Southgate if Sancho is to force his way back into the England manager’s plans for Qatar.
These were the early days under Ten Hag, and the winger was missing for some timem, but now he’s scored 3 goals this season and he’s established himself as one of Manchester United’s key forces.
Christian Eriksen:
The Dane appeared better with every match he has played. He’s a player Manchester United have missed, maybe since Paul Scholes retired.
Eriksen is a player who controls the tempo and who will often cut off the opponent’s moves.
Dead ball bait also adds a new dimension to Manchester United’s game.
Once he fully reaches an understanding with Casemiro, it could completely change the look of Ten Hag’s midfield.
Cristiano Ronaldo:
He had to wait, and when it came, it was from the penalty spot. But Ronaldo finally missed this season.
If he is unhappy with his fate after failing to secure a move in the summer, he is doing his best to deal with the disappointment.
There is an effort and a smile also returns.
That’s 699 club goals and counting. After opening his account, he hoped this would be a turning point for his campaign.
Losers
Casemiro:
Knocked out from the starting XI again after making his full debut against Real Sociedad last week.
The Brazilian player was recruited to anchor Manchester United’s midfield, but he will have to wait for a chance to establish himself.
Expected to start against the Sheriff and build a profile with his new team-mates, but it was Scott McTominay who got his chance.
Placing himself upon entering, which was a testament to his determination to make an impression.
Marcus Rashford:
Another player not included in the England squad, Rashford has injury reasons.
Still, he will appreciate the potential cost of this dismissal having rediscovered his goalscoring touch in recent weeks.
Little time is precious to convince Southgate that he should be on the way to Qatar, so he should have hope of getting back on the pitch soon.
Antony:
Manchester United fans were expecting regular play after his sensational debut against Arsenal, however, the Brazilian player failed to repeat that stunning start in the next two games.
Ten Hag clearly gave him every chance to get into his system, only being pulled off in the dying minutes of the game.
There’s no shortage of effort, although Manchester United need more impact from him.
