DBasia.news – The puzzle of where Lionel Messi will be anchored after separating from Barcelona is increasingly clear. La Pulga’s destination club has even been known to the president of the Blaugrana, Joan Laporta.
Barcelona and Messi were forced to separate despite agreeing to extend the ties of cooperation. LaLiga’s regulations regarding salary burden limits were a major barrier.
One week before the 2021-2022 LaLiga began, Barcelona was unable to significantly reduce his salary burden. Even though it is the main condition for extending Messi’s contract.
Barcelona finally chose to give up. El Barca said their farewell to Messi on Thursday (5/8) local time.
After canceling his contract extension at Barcelona, Messi was quickly linked with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). The French giant does have the financial strength to tie the megastar.
The rumors were accidentally confirmed by Laporta. He broke the news to Florentino Perez and Andrea Agnelli at an online meeting of the founders of the European Super League.
“Messi is heading to PSG, I would have liked it if he had stayed with us but it’s not possible,” Laporta said in a video leaked by Tuttomercatoweb.
The news of Messi joining PSG was actually leaked by the prince of Qatar, Caliph Bin Hamad Al-Thani. He is a relative to the owner of Les Parisiens, Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
From the latest reports, PSG will announce the arrival of Messi in the next few days. While the 34-year-old player is scheduled to give a farewell message to Barcelona on Sunday (8/8) local time.
