Joel Matip’s injury is Liverpool’s nightmare
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Liverpool’s struggle to defend the Premier League title seems to be getting tougher. This was after the Reds confirmed that they could not use Joel Matip’s power until the end of the 2020-2021 season.
Matip did provide bad news from Liverpool’s treatment room. The ankle injury that the Cameroonian national player suffered was quite severe.
Matip suffered this injury when Liverpool defeated Tottenham Hotspur in the middle of last week. He was withdrawn early in the second half.
This bad news was confirmed directly by Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp. He now has to rack his brains to overcome the player crisis in his team’s defense.
“We only know now that everyone sees that Joel will be out for the rest of the season,” Klopp said on the club’s official website.
“He has an ankle injury and has continued to play until now to miss the rest of the season, so you can imagine how much he has tried to stay on the pitch to help us.”
Matip is quite often absent due to injury. But the long absence of Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez has made the player seem a little forced to appear.
But Klopp ensures this injury will not kill Matip’s career. He believes the player will be ready to undergo preparations ahead of next season.
“We will wait for him. He now has time to rest this season, then in the summer, then the pre-season and he will be ready again,” he added.
Matip’s injury has forced Liverpool to bring in two players at the same time on the last day of the transfer market. The two players in question are Ben Davies (Preston North End) and Ozan Kabak (Schalke 04).
