Jorginho Admits on Being Deceived by Player Agents

However, there are a few sly agents who actually use clients. Many ways have been done, such as embezzling money. This has happened to Chelsea midfielder, Jorginho.

In fact, the Brazilian-born Italian player was frustrated and almost wiped out his dream in the world of football. As the agent is known to have embezzled young Jorginho’s money.

Jorginho said, while still a young player, the agent only gave him 20 euros or about 322 thousand each week.

Jorginho’s journey in the world of football began in Imbituba City, Brazil. There he often plays with much older children. At the age of 15 he moved to Italy to play.

Jorginho admitted that he was very thrilled to move to the country of origin of his great grandfather. For him it was a dream come true. But all that turned into a nightmare after he learned that the agent had tricked him.

“I played on a tournament in Brazil and the agent found me. He took me to a football school. He monitored and brought good players to Italy,” Jorginho told the Chelsea website.

“That’s what he did when I was 15 years old. He set up my trial at the Verona youth team. They then signed me. At first everything went easy because this was my dream.”

“Then I started doing routines such as training, school, rest, training, and school. That’s what I did for 18 months. I got a 20 euro allowance every week. I couldn’t do much with that money,” Jorginho continued.

“Then I got acquainted and made friends with other Brazilians. He asked many things. I told him that I lived with 20 euros a week in Italy. He said ‘wait a minute, something’s wrong’.”

“Apparently later it was discovered that the agent had taken my money. I had no idea of it at all. At that time, I was desperate.”

“I called home while crying. I told my mother, I wanted to go home and didn’t want to play football anymore,” Jorginho recalled.

His mother advised Jorginho not to think about stopping. The reason is that a lot of time and energy has been spent.

“You have to stay there. Stay strong,” his mother said as told by Jorginho.

Luckily Jorginho followed his mother’s request. Shortly thereafter, Jorginho was trusted by the coach to appear as a starter and become a player like he is now.
