Jurgen Klopp criticizes the rough play of Man United’s wonderkid

DBasia.news – Hannibal Mejbri stole the attention of Manchester United fans after appearing adamant when meeting Liverpool last week. But his action was criticized by Jurgen Klopp.

In the postponed Premier League 2021-2022 match which took place at Anfield, Wednesday (20/4), Manchester United were unable to do much. The Red Devils had to admit Liverpool’s advantage with a score of 0-4.

Manchester United arguably lost everything in this match. Liverpool’s players could comfortably dictate the game.

Shortly after Liverpool scored the fourth goal through Mohamed Salah in the 85th minute, Ralf Rangnick made a surprise. The Manchester United interim manager included Hannibal Mejbri to replace Anthony Elanga.

Manchester United fans certainly do not have high expectations with this substitution. Moreover, the normal time was only less than five minutes remaining.

However, Mejbri took full advantage of this opportunity to play. He appeared adamant and did not hesitate to commit a hard offense to Jordan Henderson.

As a result of this violation, Mejbri was given a yellow card. But his action actually reaped the praise of Manchester United fans.

Mejbri seemed to showed his seniors the right way to fight with Manchester United. Gary Neville even went so far as to give a compliment.

“It takes a little kid to show them (Man United players) how to run and tackle. I’m honestly proud of him,” Neville told Sky Sports.

Interestingly, Klopp was uncomfortable with the praise of Mejbri. He considered his act of committing a severe violation to the opponent unjustified.

“I don’t blame the kid (Hannibal). He arrived late in a fast game and obviously wants to make an impression,” Klopp said at a press conference ahead of the game against Everton.

“Hard play in football is fine but you can’t solve your own problems by hurting opposing players. That’s something I never understood.”

“Things can happen in football because it’s a high-speed game. But not things like this where you don’t care about other.”

Neville himself had previously apologized for praising Mejbri. He admitted it was inappropriate for him to say so while serving as a commentator.
