DBasia.news – Luis Diaz became Liverpool’s purchase in the winter transfer window of 2022. The Colombian winger was recruited for €45 million from Porto and immediately made a big impact.
Having only made two appearances for Liverpool in the Premier League, the 25-year-old player has scored once. That one goal was scored when Liverpool made a comeback and turned around to win against Norwich City at Anfield on week 26 of the Premier League, Saturday (19/02) night WIB.
After being left behind by Milot Rashica’s goal (48′), Liverpool won 3-1 through goals from Sadio Mane (64′), Mohamed Salah (67′), and Luis Diaz (81′). Liverpool’s new trio and they still have Diogo Jota, Divock Origi, Roberto Firmino and Takumi Minamino.
The victory left Liverpool with Man City six points adrift, and Liverpool still have one game remaining to play. Diaz’s presence can be crucial in the race for the Premier League title.
Diaz played against Norwich in place of the injured Firmino and Jota, his form did not disappoint with Squawka’s stats: 59 touches from the ball, 13 touches in the opponent’s box, created five chances, won five duels and four shots.
Jurgen Klopp has fallen in love with Luis Diaz. He was amazed by Diaz’s performance as well as his good hard work ethic.
“We are looking at now the two games when Luis is playing, in or playing, where he is absolutely outstanding,” Klopp said as quoted by Marca.
“Today he also worked hard, it was a difficult meeting, a complicated meeting. So staying on the pitch, staying in the game shows real quality because we changed the system and brought Luis in the middle and Sadio came in in his natural position.”
“Sadio kept scoring in the middle, but Luis also made great moves in the middle. That’s great, he just has incredible talent, a great player. I think he was elated tonight. He should be.”
