Jurgen Klopp Salutes the Aston Villa Junior Team’s Resistance

DBasia.news – Jurgen Klopp praised the young Aston Villa players after they made Liverpool have to fight extra when competing in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday (9/1/2020). He did not think that the ‘boy yesterday afternoon’ that was revealed could make it difficult for Fabinho and his friends.

This was expressed directly by the Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp. He felt that his team’s preparations for this match were in vain because Aston Villa sent players who were not predicted before.

In a match that took place at Villa Park, Saturday (9/1), Aston Villa fielded a combination of young players from the U-23 and U-19 teams. Mark Delaney, the youth team coach of The Villans, temporarily took over from Dean Smith, who had to undergo a period of isolation with the main squad.

The difference in quality and experience between the two teams is very visible on the field. Liverpool are able to score goals quickly and dominate the game.

However, Aston Villa made a surprise when Louie Barry scored an equalizer in the 41st minute. Score 1-1 then lasted until halftime.

Unfortunately the home team’s performance dropped dramatically in the second half. Liverpool are able to score three additional goals to ensure a ticket to the next round.

“I’ve never had a challenge like this in my life, that you don’t know your opponent at all,” Klopp said on the club’s official website.

“That you prepare for the meeting and do all the preparations, then all the videos are thrown in the trash because you have to start over.”

Aston Villa was unable to deploy its main squad due to the corona virus outbreak the day before the match. The English Football Federation (FA) as the tournament operator does not seem to allow any delay in the schedule so this choice must be taken.

Not to forget, Klopp also praised the young Aston Villa players who he thought had performed optimally. He is also happy with his team’s quick response after conceding.

“These young people can all play football and if you don’t play well against them you have a problem. The second half, we played exactly as we should have played from the start and that’s why we won the right way,” he concluded.
