Juventus Ask for Serie A Match Time to be Forwarded

DBasia.news – Juventus ask Serie A to advance the game time to be more friendly with supporters in Asia. Serie A can follow the schedule of matches in the Premier League.
Unfriendly match schedules in Asia, from starting at night before dawn or early morning, make it difficult for fans to watch the match during recess or at bedtime.
Juventus, through Juventus Revenue Chair, Giorgio Ricci, are worried that conditions will complicate the increase in Serie A fans in Asia competing with the Premier League. That evidence can be seen from the income status of Juventus who are under the top six Premier League teams.
“We have to find the right balance between domestic and global audiences. This is not just about broadcast time, but also about the distribution of copyright and who shows the matches,” Ricci told BBC Sport.
“From that point of view, the difference between the Premier League and Serie A is quite large. This is the longest story and one of the few reasons for fighting with (another) league.”
Asia has indeed become the biggest market for European clubs’ income through merchandise sales and so on, especially in China. That is why Juventus became the first Italian club to open a branch office in Asia or rather Hong Kong.
That is expected to increase the club’s income to recruit star players in the hunt to win the Champions League title last won in 1996.
Quoted from Deloitte’s Football Money League as of January 2019, Juventus is 11th in the 20 richest clubs in the world. The purchase of Cristiano Ronaldo and Matthijs de Ligt is proof of La Vecchia Signora’s financial strength.
Serie A to LaLiga indeed have to start following the Premier League in terms of early game schedules for the Asian market. With that, according to Federico Palomba, Head of Operations for the Asia-Pacific Zone, believes Serie A can return to its former glory.
“In the 1990s, Serie A was very popular in China. Now Serie A has become popular again,” Palomba added.
