Juventus expelled from the Champions League

DBasia.news – Benfica managed to defeat Juventus 4-3 at the Estadio da Luz on the fifth matchday of Group H of the 2022-2023 Champions League.

The Eagles scored four goals from Antonio Silva, Joao Mario and a brace from Rafa Silva, while the Bianconeri fought back through Moise Kean, Arkadiusz Milik and Weston McKennie.

This result made Benfica secure a ticket to the round of 16 after they collected eleven points. Meanwhile, the Old Lady certainly did not qualify for the next phase after only being able to obtain three points from five matches.

Benfica appeared fierce since the start. Playing as the hosts, they were able to control the game. In the 17th minute, the Eagles were able to open the scoring through Silva’s action through his header from Enzo Fernandez’s pass.

Four minutes later, the Bianconeri managed to equalize after Vlahovic found the net for Odysseas Vlachodimos. The goal was disallowed for being offside, but after a VAR check, the referee finally confirmed the striker’s goal.

Within five minutes, Benfica were able to score two goals to regain the lead. First, in the 27th minute Mario completed his task as a penalty executioner, then Rafa Silva widened the distance after using the midfielder’s assist.

The 3-1 score lasted until the first half ended.

In the second half, the Eagles continued their attacks and pressed the defense of Massimiliano Allegri’s players.

Rafa Silva managed to bring his team further away in the 50th minute. However, Juve were able to reduce the position to 4-3 in just two minutes, precisely in the 77th minute through Milik’s action and in the 79th minute thanks to goals from McKennie.

Then being left behind by one goal to make Juve desperately in the remaining time. However, until the match ended there were no additional goals created by both teams. Benfica also won 4-3 over Juventus.
