Kane Should Look to Owen and Van Persie for His Future
By db-admin
DBasia.news – This season, Tottenham Hotspur have successfully defended their mainstay striker Harry Kane. But that doesn’t mean Kane’s future is clear and he will stay with the Lilywhites.
Kane (28 years) is considered one of the top strikers in Europe. In tip-top shape the England captain has everything: good finishing, good positioning, good reading of the game and being able to open up space for his team-mates.
Man City in the summer of 2021 were linked with Kane, but the transfer failed and the club signed Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for £100 million. Transfer issues still exist and City, along with Manchester United, and other European clubs are still monitoring Kane.
Kane’s quality and ambition in winning trophies was allegedly too big for Tottenham, who do not have a good tradition of fighting for titles. Former England striker Peter Crouch gives Kane advice.
Crouch asked Kane to learn from Robin van Persie, Teddy Sheringham and Michael Owen who changed clubs to then win trophies.
“It’s a tough decision, the emotional tug weighs on the fear that your career isn’t being fulfilled,” Crouch wrote in his column for The Mail when he told Kane he was.
“I always think back to Michael Owen. He went on and won things elsewhere but then he wasn’t Steven Gerrard when he walked through the door at Anfield. He could have done it.”
“But the flip side is to look at Robin van Persie or Teddy Sheringham. These guys chose to move to Manchester United and that paid off with the league title. If you think yourself going round and round in the same place, imagine what was going on inside Harry’s head.”
Kane’s time with Tottenham was not passed by winning trophies, but finishing runners-up in the Premier League, League Cup and Champions League, although he won the personal Golden Boot award (top scorer) in England three times.
