DBasia.news – Real Madrid failed to get a replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo who left Juventus in the summer transfer market. The players who came were: Alvaro Odriozola, Mariano Diaz, Andriy Lunin, and Thibaut Courtois.
Although El Real had difficulties and experienced a decline in performance at the beginning of the season to ending with the sacking of Julen Lopetegui, the loss of Ronaldo’s figure seemed to be a blessing in itself for one of the team’s mainstay attackers, Karim Benzema. The French player even feels happier at Santiago Bernabeu.
“Previously there was a player who managed to score 50 goals in one season and I only played the role of supplier. I adjusted the type of game to Cristiano Ronaldo and we showed good cooperation. But I was given a target to help him keep on scoring a lot of goals,” Benzema says as reported by Sky Sports.
“At present, I feel as a leader in the attack line and given the task to be a differentiator in every match. I also feel thrilled because I can show the actual style of play,” added the player who strengthen Olympique Lyon.
Previously, Karim Benzema’s performance had indeed been in the spotlight, especially in the 2017/18 season when he could only score 12 goals and 11 assists. But now under Solari, the 31-year-old has collected 20 goals and seven assists in all competitions.
Benzema has the chance to add to his goal collection when Real Madrid are faced with a difficult match against their eternal rivals, Barcelona in the El Clasico in the second leg of Copa del Rey semi-final, Thursday (28/2) WIB.
